Get Catty

Love this tutorial from Lauren Conrad's website The Beauty Department on how to do her winged eyeliner look.

My favourite budget eyeliner has to be Bourjois Liner Feutre which I use in Noir to get this look.
It is so easy with a liner which is shaped like a felt tip pen.

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream vs. Vaseline

Moisture, moisture, moisture. There is nothing more important for good skin. As well as drinking gallons of water everyday - these extreme moisture balms work wonders even on combination skin as they provide a protective layer on your skin and work for hours. Petroleum Jelly has a melting point just above skin temperature and literally melts into your skin.

Ask any beauty affitionado and they will tell you they dont go anywhere without Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream.

My all time favourite beauty product has to be Vaseline. Completely inexpensive and unglamourous...with Vaseline you can do anything. Not only is it a great all round moisturiser (particularly for elbows and knees) it is........ a hair tamer, an eyebrow shaper, an eyeshadow primer, clear mascara, lipbalm, nipple saver, stretch mark soother, lubricant, cuticle cream and cracked foot moisturiser. On top of this you can mix with your makeup to create cream blusher, face highlighter and tinted lip balms and all the above makes it great on long flights.

Need I say more.

Demi-Bob Phenomenon

The Demi-Bob style can be described as hair between the chin and shoulders. Vogue are calling this the latest hair phenomenon. I think it looks great but strangely familiar, like a curly version of the POB (i.e. Posh Bob) worn by Victoria Beckham and many others back in 2008.

As usual Lauren Conrad was way ahead on this and the Ombre trend and had this style for her appearance on Chelsea Lately in the US in October last year (for a pic look at my post on Ombre Hair).

Here is Alexa Chung modelling both the Ombre Hair colour and a slightly longer Demi-Bob style.

The Beauty Department

I am a massive fan of Lauren Conrad and especially her new website The Beauty Department.

I look forward to showing you how you can recreate some of the looks on this site in Australia and on a budget.

Ombre Hair

Love it or hate it the Ombre hair trend is here to stay for a while. First appearing mid-2010 its still going strong and seems to be getting more natural looking as people get better at it.

I think the light brunette/ sunkissed blonde is the perfect all season look as you can go slightly lighter in summer and darker in winter without a major colour change.

Its also easy to do at home and worked brilliantly on my grown out bleached hair.

Watch this youtube video to show you how to recreate this at home if youre lighter and want darker roots Ombre Hair Tutorial Lighter to Darker, alternatively you need to bleach the ends of your hair if youre already brunette. Everything you need for this can be purchased from your local pharmacy.

Latest Gen. Makeup Sponge Applicators

If you are anything like me, you have been looking for a foolproof way to apply your foundation and concealer which guarantees both smooth coverage and minimum wastage. So many cosmetic sponges seem to soak up makeup and wipe rather than blend. I love a good foundation brush as much as the next girl, but streaks can be a problem and makeup builds up on the brush.

The latest teardrop shaped sponges combine an ergonomic grip with two very different application techniques. Using the rounded section you can pat and gently blend foundation on cheeks and forehead and switch ends you have a precision rounded point which is great for concealer and applying foundation in corners and around the eyes or just adding more coverage in targeted areas.

To clean you can wash with antibacterial liquid hand soap and leave on the window sill to dry.

Pro: Beauty Blender $29.95          Plus: Manicare Precision Blending Sponge $6.99
